Murder In Mind : Contract (2003) 1/6
Adam Faith is brilliant as a contract killer, not long before he himself sadly died. I loved his music as a child of the sixties and he was also an accomplished actor, most notably as the petty criminal 'Budgie'. I also think Jamie Theakston is excellent in this.
ADAM FAITH - What Do You Want & Someone Else's Baby (1969)
This is lovely and so reminiscent of the era. I think the fashions and dancing are wonderful.......

Woolly Mammoth found Alive Crossing a river in Siberia: Still not extinct?
Watched an excellent documentary yesterday about the mammoth carcass found in Russia that had been very well preserved in the ice. Notwithstanding the numerous ethical issues surrounding the possible cloning of a mammoth, the corpse does provide an incredible opportunity to study a beautiful creature at first hand. Or, they could still exist.....simply overlooked by the modern world. I'm sure I've heard family groups passing through Wendover Woods.....or could this just be a bear with a fish....you decide......

The poppy....a tribute
There is something about the poppy. They are at the same time so flimsy and yet robust. Their fine, papery petals are vulnerable to the slightest breeze but have a vibrancy and depth of colour that is hard to match. They thrive through disruption, lying dormant for many years until disturbed and then they appear in numbers that are hard to comprehend. The tougher the conditions....dry, stone-laden soils.... the better they seem to like it. They prosper in adversity. And amidst their profusion, each one remains unique., something I have tried to capture in the close-up portraits of wild poppies that appeared, spontaneously, in the wildest corner of my garden last summer.
What flower could be a better-deserving symbol of respect and hope..
